As of the beginning of January, Tapiola Sinfonietta season tickets are available to borrow at four branches of the Espoo City Library: Tapiola, Iso Omena, Sello and Otaniemi. There are two season tickets available at each branch.
Season tickets admit holders to nine Platinum series concerts at Tapiola Hall at the Espoo Cultural Centre. Information on the Platinum series concerts is available here: Platinum
Users can borrow a season ticket at the service desk at the aforementioned branches and must return it to the same service desk. The loan time is six (6) days. Users are requested to return the ticket immediately when it is no longer needed, so that it will be available to the next user before the next concert. One or two season tickets can be borrowed on one library card at any given time. The tickets cannot be reserved, and the loans cannot be renewed. In the Helmet online service, the tickets can be found using the keyword ‘Subscription’.
“It is our hope that being able to borrow a season ticket using a library card will lower the threshold of going to concerts and encourage library users to get to know our orchestra. A season ticket gives admittance to nine concerts given at the Espoo Cultural Centre this spring, featuring a really broad selection of classical music. Some of these concerts will later be posted to the Tapiola Sinfonietta YouTube channel,” says Anna Jaskiewicz, deputy General Manager of the Tapiola Sinfonietta.
A similar collaboration between municipal orchestras and libraries can currently be found at least in Tampere, Lahti and Helsinki. “The Tapiola Sinfonietta season tickets are an excellent addition to the availability of season tickets for library users. Now, they can enjoy not only sports events but culture too free of charge, with a library card,” says Jaana Tyrni, Director of Library Services.
