George Enescu and Ferdinand Ries are unjustly excluded from the top tier of classical music. Their youthful works are brimming with inventiveness and handsomely represent the musical idioms and fashions of their times – early 19th-century Romanticism in the case of Ries and early 20th-century folklorism in the case of Enescu.
Janne Nisonen leads the Tapiola Sinfonietta from the leader’s desk. The programme features Dixtuor op. 14 by Enescu and Symphony no. 1 op. 23 by Ries.
Virtual concert on Tapiola Sinfonietta YouTube channel on Thursday 22. April 2021 at 3 pm.
