Dazzling pianist Alexandre Kantorow, winner of the Tchaikovsky Competition in 2019, returns to perform with the Tapiola Sinfonietta, this time in one of the most popular works in the French concerto repertoire, Camille Saint-Saëns’s Piano Concerto No. 2. His father, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, conducts the programme, which also includes the most sensitive of Gustav Mahler’s symphonies, given here in the acclaimed adaptation for chamber orchestra by Klaus Simon. The ‘heavenly life’ soprano soloist in the symphony is Essi Luttinen.
