Due to current covid-19 restrictions, Tapiola Sinfonietta´s concerts and other public events are cancelled until the 31st of January 2022..

However, ‘Sophie & Sofija’ concert on 21st Jan at 7 pm will be live streamed on Tapiola Sinfonietta´s YouTube channel.

The Tapiola Sinfonietta welcomes conductor Christoph Altstaedt on his first visit to the orchestra. He has previously appeared in Finland at the Savonlinna Opera Festival and at the Finnish National Opera and Ballet. Sophie Dervaux plays Principal Bassoon with the Vienna Philharmonic and here takes centre stage in Sofija Gubaidulina’s intense concerto, where the bassoon is underpinned by a dark ensemble of cellos and basses. Bach’s wonderful fugue from Ein musikalisches Opfer is heard here in an original orchestral arrangement by Anton Webern. The programme concludes with Symphony no. 4 by Swiss composer Arthur Honegger, reflecting the emerging new hope after the Second World War.
