King Frederick William II of Prussia was a gifted and enthusiastic amateur cellist, and many late 18th-century composers dedicated chamber music works to him. As a result, in the string quartets on this programme the cello carries the tune perhaps more than one might expect. This concert is performed on period instruments.
Hannu Vasara, violin
Mervi Kinnarinen, violin
Ritva Kaukola, viola
Jukka Kaukola, cello
